Barnaby receives lots of letters from children all over the world telling him about their holidays or about what they've been doing in school. He tries to reply when he gets chance, but is often too busy travelling!
Here are some of the letters he has received recently - why don't you write to him and tell him what you've been doing? He loves colourful pictures too!

Dear Barnaby
Class One (reception) at Billesdon Primary School have been learning about Australia. They wanted to find out a bit more about some Australian creatures. They would be very excited to receive a reply from you, either in a letter or on your website.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Mrs Le Gros, Class teacher

Dear Class One
Thank you for your letters and pictures! It looks like you have been learning about lots of unusual animals!
I saw some of them while I was in Australia (have a look at my letter to Orange Class further down this page) but I have never seen a goanna or a frill-necked lizard!
I hope you write to me again soon!

Dear Year 1, St Mary’s School, Putney
Thanks to you and Miss Lee for sending me all those postcards! I really enjoyed reading them and finding out all about Putney. I hope to visit there one day as it sounds like a very nice place with so many parks and shops.
The leisure centre sounds very exciting – lots of you having swimming lessons there! Maybe one day if I come to Putney you could take me to the swimming pool. I will bring my trunks!
I hope you write to me again soon!

Barnaby received a nice parcel of letters last week from Orange Class (Y2), Sylvester Primary School, Huyston, asking him all about his travels in Australia. You can read some of the letters here:

Because Orange Class asked so many interesting questions about Australia, Barnaby thought it would be a good idea to write all the answers here so that everyone can find out a bit more about his travels.

Thank you very much for your letters, I really enjoyed reading them all! Australia is such an interesting country with so many things to see and do. One of my favourite things was meeting all the different animals. There are so many creatures which only live in Australia and nowhere else in the world! I saw kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles, wombats, echidnas and my favourite - a duck billed platypus! You can find out more about all these animals on the Unique Australian Animals website. There are lots of dangerous snakes and spiders in Australia too but I didn't see any - phew!

It was very hot in Australia (sometimes the temperature got up to 30c!) so I spent a lot of time on the beach and in the sea. I loved Bondi Beach which was very pretty and always full of people. I had a go at surfing there, but because I'm so small, I had to ride on my friend's surf board. I fell in the sea a few times but my fur dried quickly in the sun. One day I travelled to north east Australia to see the Great Barrier Reef which is the biggest coral reef in the world and can even be seen from space! I went diving there and saw lots of colourful fish and some turtles which were bigger than me! Lots of the wildlife living on the reef can be dangerous to humans (and bears!) so I wore a special diving suit called a 'stinger suit' to protect me. I didn't see any jellyfish while I was there though which was quite a relief! Have a look at National Geographic's Virtual Great Barrier Reef to find out more!

People in Australia dress just like people in England, but because the weather is warmer they often wear shorts and t-shirts. They eat similar food to us as well, but one of their favourite things is cooking food like sausages, steaks and prawns on a barbecue! In Australia Christmas Day happens during their summertime and some people like to have a barbecue on the beach for Christmas Dinner! I don't think we could do that in England!
There are two more questions to answer for you before I say goodbye. First of all, yes I flew to Australia on an aeroplane which took a very long time and I had to stop over in Singapore on the way! And finally, I did visit the Sydney Opera House which is amazing! You can see a photograph of me there in the World Trip Photo Gallery.
I hope I have answered all your questions and you enjoy reading my replies. Write to me again soon!

Dear Barnaby Bear
I hope you enjoy reading these letters from my Year 1 class. We have been learning all about your travels and have made a book about our Barnaby Bear. I am sending you a photograph of Scarlet Class with our bear. We look on your website for updates about Barnaby and follow the weather report from the BBC. We are going to share all of our geography work with the rest of the school at assembly time. We will write again in the summer when Barnaby can wear his summer clothes.

Dear Barnaby
We have made you beautiful new suitcases at school. We do hope you like them and that they are strong enough for all your things.
